Stereo Radiographic Film/Image Analyzer
The Stereo Radiograph Analyzer (STEREO-RTM) is designed to facilitate stereoscopic observation and assessment of radiographic films. The apparatus is capable of providing a three-dimensional (3-D) view of the internal defects in an object, thereby avoiding the confusion commonly caused by defect image overlap in a 2-D radiographic film. This added dimension now makes it possible to unambiguously and precisely locate and define the internal defects. Representing a major break-through in NDE technology, STEREO-RTM will dramatically improve the accuracy and reliability of your radiography tasks.
STEREO-RTM gives you:
A stereoscopic (3-D) perspective of the appearance and spatial distribution of internal defects in an object;
Precise definition of the nature of defects; e.g. clear discrimination among gas porosity, slag, incomplete fusion, poor penetration, shrinkage, crack, and delamination;
Clear determination of the spatial location and dimensions of a defect;
Unambiguous differentiation between a true defect and an artifact.
HOW DOES STEREO-R WORK?
Simply put: It works like your vision. What you see with your eyes viewing at a pair of radiographic films is exactly what your perspective would be if your eyes were the two X-ray beams penetrating through an object.
STEREO-RTM is designed on the basis of parallax theory. Because human eyes cannot see through an optically opaque object, we rely upon X-rays or other high energy beams with a better penetrating power to see the interior of the object for us. What is seen by these beams (artificial eyes) is preserved as images in a pair of radiographic films. STEREO-RTM, with its sophisticated optic system, reproduces the stereoscopic effect of the object in your eyes so that what you see is exactly what the X-rays saw.
STEREO-RTM, not a computed tomography (CT), does not give you computer re-constructed images of the defects. Instead, it gives your eyes a real, unmodified 3-D whole-field perspective of a defect-laden structure. You will be the judge!
STEREO-RTM does not require any modification to your existing radiographic equipment. Just take a radiograph, slightly shift the part or X-ray source, and take a second radiograph. By placing this pair of radiographic films on the viewing stage of STEREO-RTM and tuning a few knobs to "focus" the image, you will develop a stereo view on the defects inside the part. The computer (Model C-1) or microprocessor (LD-6) will automatically calculate the (x,y,z) coordinates of a defect for you.
STEREO-RTM is the result of an intense, long-term R & D efforts by a group of mechanical engineers, optical physicists, electrical engineers, computer scientists, and materials technologists. Model ME-1 is a mechanical or non-computerized version of STEREO-R.

LD-6 Stereo Radiograph Analyzer (With Digital Display)

Specifications of LD-6:

A digital version of STEREO-RTM, Model LD-6 brings the radiography technology to a new height. The innovative depth-locator design also allows you to unambiguously and precisely locate the depth (Z-coordinate) and estimate the dimensions of an internal defect. In contrast to the traditional stereo radiographic viewer that provides little information on the internal defects, LD-6 gives you a vivid whole-field sense of the internal structure of an object. As opposed to stereo fluoroscopic techniques that are difficult to operate, LD-6 is user friendly. By properly adjusting the film positions and pressing a few buttons, you will see a magnificent perception of the internal defect morphology. The built-in sensors and microprocessor will monitor and calculate the (X,Y,Z) coordinates of any internal feature while you are shifting the images. The obtained data can be printed out or transferred to a personal computer for further processing. This capability will dramatically improve the accuracy and reliability of your radiography tasks.
